A Journey from Paris to Rome
Custom-crafted itineraries.
Designed around you, never around a template.
Some journeys change countries. This one changes language, mood and eventually the age in which you seem to be travelling.
Paris opens the book with romance already written into its boulevards, museums and evening light. The train into Italy changes the style of the pages: Milan brings architecture and composure, Lake Como offers an elegant pause, and Venice turns the journey towards a city where stone appears to float. Then comes Florence, where beauty acquires a different ambition through art, architecture and patronage, before Tuscany carries the story beyond the city walls into medieval towns, vineyards and countryside.
Naples breaks the careful line with appetite, noise and the warmth of southern Italy, while the Amalfi Coast takes the chapter outdoors. Rome waits at the end with little need for introduction. Ancient arenas, the Forum, the Vatican and Michelangelo give the final pages a scale that belongs to centuries rather than days.
Romance to Renaissance is Duniya Safari’s journey from Paris to Rome, told as a story that begins with beauty, gathers art and history as it travels, and saves its oldest pages for the end.

The experiences that make this journey special
A carefully crafted journey, one unforgettable day at a time.
Arrive in Paris and transfer from Charles de Gaulle Airport to your hotel. Haussmann façades, café terraces, old bridges and the Seine establish the setting almost immediately, in a city that has spent generations being written about, painted and fallen in love with.
Begin close to wherever the afternoon takes you. Saint-Germain-des-Prés suits a slow first walk, the Tuileries opens into broad perspectives through the centre, while the Seine can carry you past bookstalls and bridges without requiring a destination. Paris has three days to unfold. There is no reason to read ahead.
See Paris across its grand avenues and familiar landmarks before taking to the Seine for a river cruise through the heart of the capital. Later, rise to the summit of the Eiffel Tower, where the streets, monuments and river arrange themselves into a cityscape very different from the one experienced at pavement level.
Stay near the Seine afterwards or cross towards the Latin Quarter as the city begins to light up. Paris is often most persuasive between its monuments: a corner table, a bridge at dusk, the roofs changing colour above the river. The romance in this chapter does not need much annotation.
Spend time inside the Louvre Museum, where centuries of painting, sculpture and antiquity occupy a former royal palace on the Seine. The collection is far too large to reduce to a handful of famous works, and part of the pleasure lies in what appears unexpectedly between them: a quiet gallery, an unfamiliar face in a portrait, a room you had not intended to enter.
Later, move away from the museum crowds towards Palais Royal, the covered passages or the cafés of Saint-Germain. Paris has opened the journey through beauty and art; tomorrow the train crosses into Italy, and the book changes language.
Leave Paris by train and arrive in Milan, where the Italian chapters begin in Gothic stone, formal façades and contemporary design. Parisian romance gives way to something more architectural and distinctly northern, an Italy of line, proportion and urban polish.
Walk towards the Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, then allow Brera to soften the edges with smaller streets, courtyards and dinner tables. Paris may have begun with romance, but Milan prefers a very well-cut jacket. Tomorrow, those urban lines give way to Lake Como.
Spend the day at Lake Como, where mountains rise directly behind elegant towns and villas occupy the narrow space along the shore. A cruise takes you out onto the lake itself, with gardens, wooded slopes and old residences appearing as the boat moves between stretches of open water.
Return to Milan later with the pace of the day still lingering. Brera works well for a final dinner in the city, or follow the canals around Navigli once the lights begin reflecting on the water. In the morning, the journey leaves Milan’s straight lines for a place where even the streets refuse to stay on land.
Travel by train from Milan to Venice, arriving where roads disappear and the city begins again as canals, bridges and stone façades. Later, take to the waterways on a traditional gondola, passing beneath bridges and alongside palazzi built with their finest entrances facing the water. Paris introduced romance through boulevards and riverbanks; Venice has its own vocabulary for it.
Once ashore, let the smaller streets take over. Dorsoduro and Cannaregio reward wandering beyond the busiest paths, while the Rialto area carries the energy of a city that spent centuries trading far beyond its lagoon. Venice is only one night in this book, which somehow suits it. Some chapters are memorable because they end before you are ready.
Leave Venice by train and continue to Florence. Brunelleschi’s dome rises above terracotta roofs, medieval streets open onto Renaissance squares, and the Arno slips quietly through a place that changed the course of European art. The journey has been approaching this chapter from the beginning. Here, the second half of its title finally arrives.
Walk through Piazza della Signoria, cross Ponte Vecchio into Oltrarno, or climb towards Piazzale Michelangelo as the afternoon begins to soften. Florence compresses an extraordinary amount of artistic ambition into a remarkably walkable centre. Tomorrow, the story widens beyond the city.
Travel through Tuscany to Siena and the Siena Cathedral, then continue to San Gimignano, where medieval towers still rise above the town. The route crosses Chianti before reaching Pisa, with a traditional local lunch and wine included along the way. Beyond Florence, Tuscany widens the story through rival towns, farming communities and families whose fortunes were built far from the great cities.
Return to Florence for the evening and cross into Oltrarno if you feel like keeping things local. Piazza Santo Spirito fills gradually as tables spread across the square. After a day of towers, vineyards and old rivalries, Florence can afford to become quiet again.
Travel south by train from Florence to Naples, and the carefully composed world of Renaissance Italy loosens almost immediately. Balconies crowd above narrow streets, scooters thread through impossible gaps, conversations carry from one side of the road to the other, and the old city seems determined to conduct much of its life outdoors.
Follow Spaccanapoli or Via dei Tribunali and let Naples set its own pace. Somewhere nearby, dough lands on a flour-dusted counter and a wood-fired oven flares open for a few seconds. After Parisian elegance, Milanese polish and Florentine discipline, a little disorder is exactly what the story needed.
Leave Naples for a day through Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi. Sorrento looks across the Bay of Naples from its clifftop setting, Positano drops towards the sea in terraces of houses, and Amalfi carries traces of the maritime republic that once connected this coast with ports far beyond Italy.
Naples is waiting again by evening, with the Quartieri Spagnoli offering a complete change from the cliffs and coastal roads. Find a table somewhere that looks busy for the right reasons and let the city carry on around you. Tomorrow, the journey reaches Rome, and the scale of the story changes for the last time.
Travel by train from Naples to Rome, then explore the ancient heart of Rome through the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, . The names are familiar long before arrival, but standing among arena walls, ruined temples and the ground from which emperors once looked across their capital gives those familiar stories a physical scale that is difficult to imagine until you are standing among them.
Spend the evening around Monti, where small restaurants and pavement tables sit within walking distance of some of Rome’s oldest remains. The contrast needs no clever explanation. A few streets away, an empire once conducted its business; tonight someone is pulling up a chair for dinner.
See more of Rome at a flexible pace before entering Vatican City for the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Galleries accumulated across generations lead towards one of the most recognised painted interiors in the world, where Michelangelo’s ceiling still has the peculiar ability to make an entire room look upwards at once.
For the last evening, cross the Tiber into Trastevere or wander through the lanes around the historic centre without adding another major monument to the day. Rome has already given the final chapter to emperors, artists and popes. The remaining pages can belong to dinner, conversation and the streets after dark.
Transfer from your Rome hotel to Fiumicino Airport for the journey home. Thirteen days have carried the book from Parisian boulevards to an Italian sequence of lakes, canals, Renaissance roofs, Neapolitan streets and Roman stone. Some scenes will remain more vivid than others, which is usually how the best stories survive.
Romance to Renaissance, a journey from Paris to Rome, comes to an end here with Duniya Safari. The final page belongs to Rome; what you carry beyond it is yours.

Where the Riviera Changes the Light
If you want the romance of France to linger a little longer before the journey turns toward Italy, Nice brings a warmer, more Mediterranean mood to the route. Walk the Promenade des Anglais, wander through the lanes of Vieux Nice, browse the Cours Saleya market and climb towards Castle Hill for sweeping views across the Baie des Anges. From here, you can also venture along the Côte d’Azur to places such as Èze or Monaco.
Duniya Safari recommends adding 2 nights in Nice after Paris, before continuing to Milan. Two nights give you enough time to enjoy Nice itself and include one Riviera excursion, creating a graceful transition from Parisian romance to the Italian chapters that follow.
