Our Beautiful Croatia

Custom-crafted itineraries.
Designed around you, never around a template.
Croatians have a phrase for their country: Lijepa Naša, “Our Beautiful.” It feels especially fitting across Croatia, where beauty keeps changing its form, from lakes spilling into cascades and forested rivers to islands scattered across the Adriatic and old cities rising above the sea. Beyond Croatia, the route briefly crosses into Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina, where bays, waterfalls, mountain roads and historic towns bring a neighbouring perspective to the journey.
Over ten days, Zagreb opens the journey near Plitvice and Rastoke before Split brings the Adriatic into full view through island waters, the Blue Cave, and Krka. Dubrovnik takes over in the south, its red roofs and fortified old town looking out across the coast while Montenegro, Mostar, Počitelj and Kravice extend the final days into neighbouring landscapes and histories.
Lijepa Naša: Our Beautiful Croatia is Duniya Safari’s celebration of a country whose beauty arrives in many forms, some dramatic, some quiet, and many that stay with you long after the road home.
What's included
A carefully crafted journey, one unforgettable day at a time.
Arrive in Zagreb and transfer to your hotel, beginning in a capital that wears its elegance lightly. Trams cross broad squares, café tables spill onto pavements, and Austro-Hungarian façades sit beside markets, parks and neighbourhood streets that still feel lived in rather than staged for visitors.
Spend the first evening around Ban Jelačić Square, wander towards the Upper Town or settle over coffee somewhere in the centre. Zagreb’s charm often lies in these smaller rituals: people meeting after work, conversations stretching over a table, and a city settling into evening without much ceremony.
Travel to Plitvice Lakes, where water moves constantly through the forest, over ledges, and between a chain of clear lakes. Boardwalks follow the landscape's contours as turquoise pools, shaded woodland, and waterfalls appear one after another, each turn opening onto another stretch of water.
Rastoke brings the day down to a more intimate scale. Streams weave around old houses, small cascades slip beneath bridges, and the village seems to have grown around the water rather than beside it. Returning to Zagreb, Croatia already feels less like one landscape and more like a collection of places people would be proud to call their own.
Check out of your Zagreb hotel and travel south by bus to Split. The scenery slowly dries and brightens as the route leaves continental Croatia behind, and somewhere along the way the Adriatic begins to appear between hills and settlements.
By evening, Split feels unmistakably Dalmatian. The Riva fills with walkers and café tables, narrow lanes wind through the old centre, and Roman remains sit comfortably inside a city that still uses them in everyday life. The sea is no longer something glimpsed from a distance; it now runs alongside the days ahead.
Set out across the Adriatic towards the Blue Cave, with Hvar and the islands breaking the day into stretches of open water, rocky coast and harbour life. The cave brings its famous blue glow, while the journey between islands reveals coves, limestone shores and a sea that seems to change colour with the light.
Hvar adds another rhythm altogether, with boats gathered along the harbour and lanes climbing away from the waterfront. By the return to Split, the day has been shaped as much by the spaces between the islands as by the places themselves.
Follow the river into Krka, where water gathers across terraces and drops through a succession of falls framed by greenery. Paths lead past pools, cascades and shaded stretches of river, offering a cooler counterpoint to the open Adriatic of the previous day.
Food and wine bring the afternoon back to the region itself, adding local flavour after hours spent beside the river. Something deeply Croatian about the combination: water, countryside, a table, and time enough to enjoy all three before returning to Split.
Check out of your Split hotel and take a bus south to Dubrovnik. The road stays close to the coast until the city appears in its unmistakable setting: terracotta roofs gathered behind fortified walls, with the Adriatic stretching beyond.
After checking in, spend the evening around the Old Town or near the harbour. Dubrovnik has the kind of arrival that needs little introduction: narrow lanes, polished paving, shuttered windows and glimpses of blue appearing suddenly at the ends of streets.
Walk through Dubrovnik’s Old Town, where squares, churches, fountains and centuries-old façades sit within the sweep of the city walls. Later, rise above it all on the Dubrovnik Cable Car, with rooftops spreading below and the Adriatic opening far beyond the city's edge.
Back at street level, Dubrovnik becomes smaller again: a shaded lane, a table tucked into a corner, steps disappearing between houses. Seen from above it is magnificent; walked slowly, it becomes much more personal.
Cross into Montenegro for a day of deep bays, mountain-backed settlements and a coastline that feels closely related to Croatia yet unmistakably its own. The road bends around the water, with villages clustered beneath steep slopes and old towns lining the bay.
You can take a local boat trip for a different perspective from the water, or keep the day focused on the towns and viewpoints along the route. By evening, Dubrovnik is close again, but Montenegro has left behind a different palette of dark mountains, sheltered bays and quieter shores.
Travel into Bosnia & Herzegovina, starting at Kravice Waterfalls before continuing to Mostar and Počitelj. At Kravice, the river spreads into a broad curtain of falls; farther inland, Mostar gathers around the Neretva and its famous bridge, with minarets, old houses and market lanes climbing away from the river.
Počitelj brings a quieter final chapter, its hillside streets and Ottoman-era architecture looking across the valley below. The return to Dubrovnik closes a day that feels closely connected to the Croatian south, yet culturally and historically distinct in its own right.
Check out of your Dubrovnik hotel and transfer to the airport for the journey home. Zagreb’s cafés, Plitvice’s lakes, the first sight of Dalmatia, island harbours, Krka’s river and Dubrovnik’s rooftops now belong to the same journey, even though each arrived with a character entirely its own.
Lijepa Naša: Our Beautiful Croatia ends here with Duniya Safari. “Our Beautiful” feels less like a phrase by now and more like something understood: the affection people hold for a country of lakes, islands, old cities and coastlines that continue to live vividly in the mind long after departure.

These are a few of our favourite additions if you’d like to make this itinerary longer
For travellers who would like the journey to linger a little longer on the Adriatic, Hvar is the natural place to add time between Split and Dubrovnik. The main route already brings together Croatia’s inland landscapes, Dalmatian coast and historic cities; an island stay adds a slower, more intimate side of the country that a day excursion only begins to reveal.
Hvar deserves more than a few hours on an island-hopping day. Adding Hvar after Split gives you time to explore Hvar Town after the daytime boats leave, wander around St Stephen’s Square and the harbour, and climb to Fortica for one of the island’s best views over the Adriatic. With an extra day, explore Stari Grad or head to the Pakleni Islands for swimming, coves, and a slower stretch of Dalmatian coast.
We recommend 2 nights in Hvar between Split and Dubrovnik. One night gives you the evening atmosphere a day visit misses, while two nights let the island become a destination in its own right rather than a stop between cities. Duniya Safari can customise the ferry connections, hotel and island experiences so Hvar fits naturally into the onward journey to Dubrovnik.
Everything you need to know about this package
