Amsterdam to Paris

Custom-crafted itineraries.
Designed around you, never around a template.
From Amsterdam’s quiet waterways to Paris’s luminous boulevards, this journey unfolds through three distinct European moods. In the Netherlands, water shapes both landscape and city life; Belgium rises through medieval squares, guild houses and belfries; France brings the journey beneath a brighter, grander skyline. Three neighbouring countries, each expressing Europe through a very different visual language.
Across nine days, Amsterdam begins on the water before opening into Dutch villages, Van Gogh and a view across the city from above. Brussels shifts the mood towards Flemish stone and the medieval silhouettes of Bruges and Ghent. Paris changes the scale again, moving from the Seine to the Eiffel Tower before ending with the colour and imagination of Disneyland Paris.
Canals, Spires & City Lights: Amsterdam to Paris is Duniya Safari’s journey through three European worlds, where the scenery changes from reflections to rooftops to illumination, and each destination leaves behind a skyline of its own.

The experiences that make this journey special
A carefully crafted journey, one unforgettable day at a time.
Arrive in Amsterdam and transfer from Schiphol Airport to your hotel. By evening, step aboard an Amsterdam canal cruise and see the city from the waterways that have organised its streets for centuries. Narrow houses rise directly beside the canals, bridges appear one after another, and reflections turn familiar façades into something softer once the lights come on.
Back on land, remain around the Canal Ring or wander towards the Jordaan, where quieter streets and waterside tables suit the first night. Amsterdam does not introduce itself through a grand avenue or central square. It begins with water slipping between buildings.
Leave Amsterdam for Zaanse Schans, Edam, Volendam and Marken, moving into a landscape where water, villages and open horizons have long existed in close negotiation. Windmills and traditional houses at Zaanse Schans give way to Edam’s compact streets, Volendam’s harbour and Marken’s distinctive island heritage.
Return to Amsterdam with a wider picture of the Netherlands than the capital alone can provide. De Pijp or the Nine Streets offer easy evening options, but the day has already shifted your perspective. The canals seen yesterday belong to a much larger Dutch relationship with water.
Begin with the Van Gogh Museum, where colour, brushwork and restless observation replace the waterways as Amsterdam’s focus. Later, rise above the city at A'DAM Lookout, with its rooftop perspective and swing extending beyond the edge high above the IJ. After two days close to ground level, Amsterdam suddenly opens beneath you.
The evening can return to the canals one last time, perhaps around Jordaan or the western Canal Ring. By now the city has appeared through water, landscape, painting and height. Tomorrow, the route trades Dutch horizontals for Belgium’s medieval verticals.
Travel by train from Amsterdam to Brussels. The change is immediate enough to feel architectural: canal houses and low horizons give way to ornate façades, monumental squares and the layered streets of the Belgian capital. Around the Grand Place, guild houses crowd together beneath towers and elaborate stonework.
Spend the later hours around Sablon, Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert or the streets branching away from the historic centre. Brussels is less interested in the neat visual rhythm Amsterdam leaves behind. Its appeal gathers in detail, masonry and sudden grandeur.
Travel through Bruges and Ghent, two Flemish cities where medieval Belgium still rises dramatically above the streets. Bruges brings canals, stepped gables and market squares into unusually close quarters, while Ghent feels larger and more lived-in, with towers and historic buildings gathered along the waterways.
Back in Brussels, the difference between the three Belgian cities becomes part of the day’s pleasure. Bruges may feel composed, Ghent more muscular and Brussels more metropolitan, but stone, trade and civic ambition have left their signatures on all three.
Leave Brussels by train and arrive in Paris, where the final movement begins along broad boulevards, pale façades and the Seine. After the compact medieval centres of Belgium, Paris feels expansive, built around long perspectives and monuments that often announce themselves well before you reach them.
Use the afternoon for Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the Tuileries or a walk beside the river. As evening settles, bridges and façades begin taking on the glow that has made Paris inseparable from the idea of illumination. Tomorrow, that view shifts from street level to the top of its most famous landmark.
See Paris across its avenues and landmarks before taking a Seine River cruise through the centre of the city. Later, rise to the summit of the Eiffel Tower, where the river, boulevards and rooftops resolve into a single panorama far above the streets.
Stay near the Seine afterwards or cross towards the Latin Quarter as lamps begin appearing along the bridges. Amsterdam began with reflections on dark water; Paris answers with iron, height and a city gradually switching itself on below.
Spend the day at Disneyland Paris, where castles, parades, attractions and familiar characters exchange European history for deliberate fantasy. After canals, museums, belfries and monuments, the journey gives one a full day of imagination without asking it to behave like heritage.
Return to Paris for the final evening, when the contrast feels particularly sharp. The real city waits beyond the park gates with its boulevards, neighbourhood cafés and illuminated landmarks, while the day leaves behind a brighter, more theatrical version of the same instinct to create wonder.
Transfer from your Paris hotel to Charles de Gaulle Airport for the journey home. Nine days have moved from Amsterdam’s waterways and Dutch horizons through the medieval silhouettes of Belgium to a Paris of river views, ironwork and evening illumination.
Canals, Spires & City Lights: Amsterdam to Paris comes to an end here with Duniya Safari. The route finishes in Paris, but its three skylines are unlikely to settle into memory in quite the same way.
