Crossing SturgeonLake, The Tragically Hip, and the Bobcaygeon Vibe.

My new friend, Kim

Today was an absolutely relaxing day on the water. My new friend, Kim, cast Tuggie off the lock wall. And locking through barely causes a blip in my heart rate anymore; it’s becoming second nature.

We made the run across Sturgeon Lake from Fenelon Falls to Bobcaygeon, following the route along what Kim described as the “checkmark.” We had just a gentle, light chop on the water; just perfect weather for a day cruising. And I think that the girls know when mom is whistling or singing, things are going well.

Lynn aboard Craic

I also heard from Lynn aboard Craic, who is nearing the end of the waterway and passed along some fantastic tips from their journey. On the flip side, I’ve lost track of Bill and Ella on Suzanne Carr, but you never know when paths will cross again!

Word definitely travels

Word definitely travels fast along this waterway. One of the lock staff here looked at me, asked if I was the woman traveling with two cats, and then called me right by my name! I’ve also made new friends here: Chris and Laurie aboard Ever Sweeter, based out of the Thousand Islands. Chris mentioned they’d spotted Tuggie way back at the Port of Orillia! They’ve been giving me great intel as I ponder whether to forge ahead toward the Thousand Islands or the Rideau Canal later on.
